The Executive Auditor manages the Office of the Executive Auditor, an independent internal auditing office, and is responsible for overseeing the unbiased assessment of the IDB Group’s internal controls, particularly accounting and financial controls, enhancing cost-effectiveness and efficiency of operations, while managing risks and maximizing coordination with other oversight and control areas.
As an IDB staff member, the Executive Auditor reports to the Office of the
Presidency and to the Audit Committee of the IDB Board of Executive Directors. Services to the IIC (Inter-American Investment Corporation) are performed under a service-level agreement. Periodically, the Executive Auditor meets with the Audit Committees of the IDB and IIC Boards of Executive Directors to provide information necessary for the Committees to discharge their responsibilities.
Leads a team of approx. 27 employees, including contractual employees.
Should have an extensive understanding of financial and operational risk on a global scale, current working knowledge of international auditing standards and generally accepted auditing standards in the U.S., and preferably a background in development. Active Certified Internal Auditor qualification, and a Certified Public Accountant/Chartered Accountant or equivalent required; advanced degree (Master’s or equivalent) in a relevant field. Proven track record of 15+ yrs. experience managing and delivering best practice internal audit services.
