Job Description

Diversified Search a top 5 Executive Search Firm has been retained by The Puerto Rico Science, Technology & Research Trust to conduct a search for Executive Director, Puerto Rico Vector Control Unit (PRVCU). http://prvectorcontrol.org/about/

The PRVCU was established in September 2016, to resolve the challenges presented by dengue, zika and chikungunya, the result of a five-year, $14 million-dollar/year cooperative agreement between the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Science Technology and Research Trust.

The mission is: To protect the people of Puerto Rico from the mosquito Aedes Aegypti, while educating and empowering the communities to dramatically and sustainably reduce mosquito population across the island. The vision is: Striving for a Puerto Rico free from mosquito-borne disease.

The PRVCU focuses on strengthening the capacity for vector control in Puerto Rico as well as implementing vector surveillance, creating innovative information systems, carrying out vector control operations, and boosting community engagement through citizen mobilization and education programs.

With a team of over 50 people, PRVCU is accomplishing its goals and expanding its operations throughout the island. PRVCU continues to prepare grassroots campaigns focused on educating and encouraging citizen and community participation in the effort to reduce Aedes aegypti breeding sites.

While there is no doubt that Hurricane Maria had devastating effects on Puerto Rico it seems that San Juan has regained its stride as a travel destination; tourist areas are operating as usual and the city possesses a strong resilient nature and willingness to get on with life.
