The project: The Ministry of Education has launched a comprehensive reform of its education system. One part of this reform aims at the improvement of the ‘upper secondary vocational education’. The MoE has invited GTZ to submit a proposal for a project lasting about three years, which shall provide the following deliverables: - Development of occupational standards and of new programs better suited to labour market needs, and offering vocational opportunities to both, male and female students. - Creation of two tracks with different emphases on the academic and practical components in order to suit varying ability - Introduction of apprenticeships as an essential tool to provide up-to-date and relevant practical training and therefore, development of strategies to involve the private sector - Training the relevant staff - Monitoring the pilot program
Your tasks: - Develop and implement occupational standards for the disciplines identified as a priority for Bahrain - Attract trainers and teachers and people drawn from industry and provide on-the-job training, workshops, etc. to ensure excellence in technical and vocational training; - Develop strategies to ensure independent operation including the ability to offer flexible working conditions to attract the best training, teaching and leadership staff; - Provide professional development plans for trainers and teachers of technical and vocational subjects, career guidance, training of teachers in the selected tracks etc. to keep industry knowledge and skills current; - Develop and implement curricula that meet the requirements of the industry - Develop innovative and flexible delivery methods (including adequate IT support) to meet individual training requirements to achieve appropriate new apprenticeship training; - Build up effective relationships with local business and industries to ensure the close working relationship with the governing body - Provide advisory services in institutional development and capacity building
Your qualifications: Degree from a university or university of applied sciences (FH) At least ten years of professional experience, preferably in the field of technical education and vocational training, proven organizational, planning and administrative skills, excellent communication skills in English. A flexible approach to work requirements and a calm demeanour are also important. Furthermore, the posts require the following: Intercultural competence, creativity, patience, and sensitivity for the Arab culture, computer skills. You are a team player but you are also able to assert yourself whenever feasible.
