Job Description

Background

Abt Associates is a global development firm with a mission to improve the quality of life and economic well-being of people worldwide. As a service provider to international donors and global development partners, we deliver a range of services, from technical designs and evaluations, all the way through to large scale program implementation.

The Specialist Health Service (SHS) provides strategic input on health to the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). SHS allows DFAT to source high-quality technical advice to support health policy, strategic planning and health programming across the aid management cycle.

The Opportunity

Under the Partnerships for a Healthy Region (PHR) Initiative, DFAT invited proposals through an open and competitive call to address communicable and non-communicable disease control. PHR includes activities focused on strengthening capacity to prevent, prepare and respond to infectious disease threats; prevention, detection and early treatment of NCDs; health promotion, and mental health and suicide prevention. DFAT invited proposals which target and directly pursue gender equality and disability inclusive outcomes, in addition to projects which support the engagement of First Nations people in the delivery of activities.

All partners selected through the open and competitive call will develop full project designs based on their proposals. SHS will engage external consultants with expertise in design (preferably also with experience in health) and gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) to support DFAT and partners with the development of partner designs between September – December 2023.
