The Mitchell Group, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Fact-Checker to support the accuracy and integrity of our research and public-facing materials. This position is ideal for entry level applicants with undergraduate of graduate degrees who have strong research and writing skills, particularly those with coursework in international labor rights or related fields.
The Fact-Checker will ensure that all published content meets our standards of precision, clarity, and compliance with established guidelines. You will work closely with our research and editorial teams to verify information across a range of critical documents, including country profiles, policy reports, and other research products.
Key Responsibilities
· Fact-check research products and public-facing materials to ensure precision and compliance with established guidelines, assessing that:
o Information is cited to the accurate source
o The source material is correctly analyzed; claims are neither overstated or misrepresented
o Source material is paraphrased without being copied verbatim, unless otherwise noted
o Electronic source files consist of cited source documents that are generally well-ordered, well-marked, and without duplication
o Information is provided in a manner consistent with TDA guidelines, unless language is communicated as having been negotiated during prior reviews
o Information is properly analyzed, and includes findings that reflect gaps in country efforts, suggested actions that correspond to those findings, and country assessments are based on the country’s efforts or lack thereof
o Information is communicated in a clear and concise manner without grammatical mistakes.
· Collaborate swiftly and effectively with team members to clarify facts and resolve discrepancies.
· Apply provided fact-checking guidelines consistently across assigned tasks.
Qualifications
· Entry level-applicants with graduate or undergraduate degrees, preferably with coursework or experience in International Labor, International Human Rights or related fields.
· Demonstrated attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, diverse team environment.
· Experience with academic or policy research is a plus.
· Proficiency in French, Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese, or Russian highly preferred.
