Country and project background
Malaria Consortium (MC) manages a wide range of communicable disease projects in a number of countries. These projects range from support to central governments in the implementation of projects for the control of malaria, pneumonia, diarrhoeal diseases and neglected tropical diseases at district and community levels, including operational research projects.
Job purpose
The Field Logistics Manager will oversee the procurement of goods and services, manage the vehicle fleet, organise staff trainings and manage security information and planning.
The successful candidate will support to the budget holders and the field coordinator on day to day basis, but is not a budget holder for any of the projects. S/he does not approve any resources but plays a supportive role by making sure that the assets and logistics resources are followed up and used properly by coordinating closely with budget holders and the field office coordinator.

Generic Responsibilities
- Ensuring all operations costs in their location are managed appropriately and deliver best value for money to the organisation
- Ensure that staff are trained on organisational operations policies, procedures and tools
- Lead the recruitment of local logistics staff
- Management of local logistics staff in accordance with HR policies and procedures, including the development, monitoring and reporting on performance assessments, timesheets, leave policies, capacity development and disciplinary measures
- Maintain regular contact with the country office providing information on issues and concerns and identifying and resolved in a timely manner
- Establish and ensure delivery of regular procurement and inventory reports to all relevant staff on a weekly basis
- On a monthly basis prepare and submit the following reports to the country office: Asser register, Stock report, Fleet report, Procurement tracker, and Generator consumption report
- Provide technical advice on human capacity building approaches and methods, at facility and community levels.
- Participate in the development of and field-testing of capacity building approaches, materials and tools.
- Monitor the quality of the capacity building aspects of Malaria Consortium projects and establish standards to ensure project materials comply with existing global and/or national benchmarks regarding human capacity development.
- Provide technical assistance to Ministries of Health and other development / implementing partners, strategy development related to human capacity development.

Person specification
Qualifications and experience:
Essential:
- Recognised qualification in Logistics and supply chain Management or Business Administration
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in operations or logistics, preferably with an INGO
- Demonstrated experience in procurement of various types of goods/services (experience with international procurement an asset) and donor procurement requirements
- Experience in managing the transport of goods in various conditions and contexts
Desirable:
- Diploma in supply chain management, logistics or a related discipline preferredWork-based skills:
