POSITION DESCRIPTION:

IBTCI is currently seeking a Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) to support the implementation of a 5 year contract for the Support for Strategic Information and Project Management Services (S4SIPMS) Program. The S4SIPMS will assist the USAID/Nigeria Office of HIV/AIDS and TB to accomplish its charge in the fight against HIV/AID by supporting the strengthening of the Nigerian national health system and, through the use of Site Improvement though Monitoring System (SIMS), to continuously monitor and assess sites receiving PEPFAR funding to ensure effective quality program implementation, and the adherence to national and international standards and accountability.

The position will be based in Abuja, Nigeria and is contingent upon award.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The DCOP will provide technical direction for the project. The DCOP reports to the COP and will supervise the technical staff. S/he will mentor, support and supervise activity staff and ensure technical quality of all project reports, materials, and publications.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: At a minimum a Master’s level education in Demography, Epidemiology, Public Health or a related field.

Required Experience:

  • Demonstrated progressive experience working in Nigeria and/or other developing countries;
  • Demonstrated technical and management expertise in the field of public health;
  • Demonstrated skills in monitoring and evaluation and solid analytical skills of Health Systems Management. This includes experience in designing monitoring and evaluation plans and the application of both routine monitoring and evaluation findings for program learning;
  • Have strong leadership and interpersonal skills and both written and oral presentation skills;
  • Demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking/planning, management, and presentation skills; and
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken.
