Food For The Poor, one of the largest international relief and development organizations in the nation, does much more than feed millions of the hungry poor, primarily in 17 countries of the Caribbean and Latin America. Overall Responsibility:
The FP&A Analyst plays a critical role in providing data-driven insights to guide strategic decision-making for Food For The Poor (FFTP). This position is responsible for supporting financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis to ensure resources are effectively allocated toward our mission of serving the poorest of the poor. The FP&A Analyst will partner with program, fundraising, and operational teams to produce clear, actionable financial reports that support donor accountability, program efficiency, and organizational sustainability.
Duties:
Financial Planning & Forecasting
- Support the development of the annual budget and multi-year financial forecasts in alignment with FFTP’s strategic plan.
- Collaborate with program managers to translate project goals into financial projections and resource needs.
- Maintain and update rolling forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Collaborate closely with the CFO to prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, identifying trends and variances, for management and the Board of Directors.
- Analyze budget-to-actual variances, highlighting risks, opportunities, and recommendations for corrective action.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor organizational efficiency, trends and impact.
- Perform scenario and sensitivity analyses to assess financial implications of operational decisions.
Program & Grant Support
- Partner with teams to track donor-funded programs and compliance.
- Provide financial insights to optimize the use of grants and donor funding.
- Support cost allocation processes to ensure fair and transparent program cost distribution.
Data Integrity & Systems
- Maintain accurate financial data within ERP/accounting systems, ensuring consistency and reliability for decision-making.
- Work with IT and finance colleagues to improve reporting tools and automate data processes where possible.
Strategic Support
- Assist in business case development for new initiatives, program expansions, and efficient projects.
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis to support strategic decisions by leadership.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
- Professional certification (CPA, CMA, CFA) preferred but not required.
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in financial planning, analysis, or related roles.
- Nonprofit or international NGO experience preferred, especially in grant-funded environments.
- Experience working with multi-currency environments and donor reporting is an asset.
- Advanced skills in Excel (e.g., Power Pivot, Power Query, DAX), Power BI and financial systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle NetSuite, SAP Concur, Salesforce).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Independent initiative-taker that thrives on challenging the data, learning, and seeking new insights.
- Experience with financial modeling and strategic planning with an ability to display examples of reports and of dashboards created.
