SG&R’s Global Food Security and Agriculture portfolio is working to strengthen agricultural markets, engage youth and women as critical leaders of the on- and off-farm workforce, and tackle the dual burden of malnutrition around the globe. RTI’s work is helping foster stronger food systems, reduce malnutrition in all its forms, build resilience and engage the next generation of food security leaders. RTI is currently partnering on nearly 30 projects in East Africa, including activities focused on private sector-driven agricultural growth in Rwanda and market systems development in Kenya.?
Project Description
The purpose of the Feed the Future Ethiopia Transforming Agriculture activity is to increase access to healthy diets, particularly for women and children, by improving competitiveness, inclusiveness, and resilience of the Ethiopian food and agriculture system. The project will also increase incomes gained from agriculture by as much as 40 percent over the next five years. To achieve its goals the project must collaborate intensively with other USAID funded projects working in the food and agriculture sector.
Responsibilities Position Description
RTI is seeking a Fleet Officer - Addis Ababa for Ethiopia Transforming Agriculture. The Fleet Officer will be responsible for fleet coordination, transportation of staff and goods, vehicle maintenance, supporting the drivers and oversight of asset management and inventory control. This position will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and will report to the Finance and Operation Director
Your primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Supervise Drivers, provide technical support, set their goal and review their performances.
- Regularly communicate while they are on duty accordingly.
- Maintain a daily Vehicle availability, ready for intown travel and various field destinations.
- Ensure that vehicles are checked daily and weekly, and that they are maintained timely.
- Ensure that the vehicle is kept clean, inside and outside, at all times and that the organization stickers are visible.
- Support the implementation of user-friendly tools for movements & maintenance planning.
- Handle annual vehicle inspection and Insurance renewal for each Vehicles, and handle insurance cases in case of any accident or incidents.
- Maintain a logbook of vehicle movement, its mileage, servicing, petrol consumption and general vehicle condition.
- Avail different Vehicles as per the request on daily bases and decide appropriate vehicle type for requested transport service.
- Make sure the Vehicles arrived is in good condition and the driver is with valid driving license to provide the required transport service and also make sure drivers provide the services as per the requirement.
- Support logistic team in arrange rental trucks for transportation of different materials and make sure the driver take over all supportive documents like delivery Order, credit or cash sales invoice along with the goods loaded.
- Create good working relationship with transport providers.
- Work under the management and guidance of the Procurement manager and take specific responsibility for fleet coordination and inventory control task.
- Assist with vehicle registration and procurement of maintenance services.
- Provide transport arrangement support for program events as needed.
- Coordinating and handling vehicle requests initiated from regional offices.
- Ensure periodic repair and maintenance service made for each Vehicles and ensure Vehicles are parked in safe place.
- Inspect all procured goods for quality and quantity, assist with entering data into the inventory system and preparing the inventory report of expandable and non-expendable items.
- Assist with regular update of Inventory List and assist in conducting of regular physical inventory check.
- Assist with inspection, transportation and delivery of all programs procured goods and materials in collaboration with Procurement and Logistic team.
- Maintain the inventory of the store, on a regular basis carry out a stock count of these items and prepare a report and submit it to the respective manager.
- Regularly collect log sheets from drivers and maintained and update Vehicles files on monthly basis.
- Any other duties suitable to task and commensurate with ability
QualificationsMinimum Required Education & Experience
Job Requirements are a combination of qualifications and related experience. Judgment of an acceptable equivalent combination, on an individual basis, is the responsibility of Management.
Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of experience, Master’s degree and 3 years of experience or PhD and 0 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- An understanding of and commitment to RTI’s mission and values
- Additional professional training in fleet and logistics management preferred
- Knowledge of USAID Fleet, Vehicle use policies and regulations a plus.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and fleet coordination and property management software;
- Strong organizational, reporting and management skills

- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
