Job Description

ACDI/VOCA is seeking an experienced Food Security Team Leader for upcoming USAID funded Food Security, Nutrition, and Resilience Activity in Liberia. The Activity will increase productivity, aggregation, farm-level processing, and marketing of staple and commercial crops to create employment opportunities especially for women and youth, support economic development and enhance resiliency through alternative livelihood opportunities, and increase local consumption of nutritious foods in communities to improve their health and nutrition.

The Food Security Team Leader will support the Chief of Party in developing the strategic direction and providing technical advice across all Activity components during the planning, designing and implementation of activities.

Responsibilities
  • Establish and manage systems to ensure cohesion across all technical sectors of the activity.
  • Ensure technical interventions are integrated, layered, and sequenced appropriately at all levels of implementation within the activity.
  • Ensure the achievement of activity goals and objectives in line with annual plans by providing technical advice and direction to the activity team.
  • Oversee day-to-day planning, design, and operations of project and technical teams to ensure effective project implementation.
  • Ensure achievement of learning objectives and use results to adapt program design as needed.
  • Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of reports and documents to USAID, national governments, ACDI/VOCA headquarters and other partner organizations.
  • Oversee and provide technical guidance to the directors for agriculture productivity, enterprise development, finance and investment, and nutrition.
  • Prepare or supervise work plans, financial, logistical, and other documents.
  • Supervise and evaluate technical team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent in agriculture, economics, business administration, sociology, gender, international development, or relevant field required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years prior work experience in international development, preferably in an agricultural or market systems context.
  • Knowledge of proven approaches and best practices in food security, agriculture, and economic growth programs.
  • Demonstrated success strengthening climate change adaptation, and climate smart agricultural practices.
  • Experience in community mobilization, consensus building and grassroots advocacy regarding local issues such as land use, natural resource management, economic development and disaster risk reduction preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical assistance and advisory services to a range of financial service providers.
  • Experience in training and facilitation.
  • Demonstrated experience advising on gender- and youth-sensitive and/or resilience monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities.
  • Excellent writing and oral presentation skills in English.
