The role – Food Systems Programme Lead is responsible for the leadership and coordination of the Food Systems for Health, Resilience and Prosperity Integrated Programme at SPC. The role oversees the development and implementation an integrated, cross-organisational work programme with staff in multiple divisions. It brings together research and implementation capabilities across the organisation, building partnerships and mobilising resources to achieve impact for member countries in the Food Systems space.

Key selection criteria
Qualifications
· Postgraduate degree in a relevant field such as food systems, agricultural, fisheries science, geography, development studies, sustainability science, nutrition, social and public policy, public sector management, public health, statistics, or economics.
Knowledge and experience
· 10 years of technical experience in a relevant field such as agriculture, fisheries, food industries, public policy, community development value chain development, with a Pacific or island states focus
· Knowledge of food systems and other systems approaches in a development context
· Experience working on multi-disciplinary or multi-sector integrated programmes in a government, international organisation or research setting
· Knowledge and understanding of gender and social inclusion in relation to food systems

Salary, terms and conditions
Contract Duration – 3 years
Due to the current travel restrictions caused by the global COVID-19 pandemic, and the priority SPC places on its staff safety, health and well-being, please note that there may be delays in taking up the appointment. These matters will be discussed thoroughly with successful candidates. In most cases, any appointment and on-boarding would only commence when relocation to the duty station is permitted.
Remuneration – The Food Systems Programme Lead is a Band 12 position in SPC’s 2021 salary scale, with a starting salary range of 3,478‒4,348 SDR (special drawing rights) per month, which currently converts to approximately FJD 10,504–13,130 (USD 4,835–6,043; EUR 4,266–5,333). An offer of appointment for an initial contract will normally be made in the lower half of this range, with due consideration given to experience and qualifications. Progression within the salary scale will be based on annual performance reviews. Remuneration of expatriate SPC staff members is not subject to income tax in Fiji; Fiji nationals employed by SPC in Fiji will be subject to income tax.
Benefits for international employees based in Fiji – SPC provides a housing allowance of FJD 1,350–3,000 per month. Establishment and repatriation grant, removal expenses, airfares, home leave travel, health and life and disability insurances and education allowances are available for eligible employees and their eligible dependents. Employees are entitled to 25 working days of annual leave per annum and other types of leave, and access to SPC’s Provident Fund (contributing 8% of salary, to which SPC adds a matching contribution).
