About you
Do you have at least two years of copy editing experience? Are you excited to be a part of a company that has a social impact focus and an open, teamwork-focused culture? Are you available to work eight-hour shifts on an occasional basis during major global development events/summits? Are you available on short notice to cover for vacation and emergency leave? Read on.
You’re detail-oriented, proactive, and have an open and collaborative attitude. Fact-checking is second nature to you and you understand editing for reader clarity and comprehension. You thrive in an environment where you’re responsible for your own work (but you get the support you need). You know how to manage competing priorities and smoothly juggle working with reporters, marketing and partnership teams, and a news production team. You always strive to be the best communicator in the room and you can spot the most obscure writing or grammatical errors before anyone else. You are acquainted with the AP style guide.
What you’ll do here
What kind of impact will you make? As a copy editor, you will be responsible for copy editing a wide range of articles, newsletters, marketing and social media copies, and special reports. You’ll ensure accuracy of grammar, facts, and figures and overall quality of Devex publications.
Your typical eight-hour workday will look a little bit like this:
Location: Remote, with working hours overlapping 9 a.m.–5 p.m. ET and 9 a.m.–5 p.m. CET. (GMT locations preferred, but locations that overlap afternoon to 8 p.m. ET are also encouraged.) We are hiring for multiple freelance positions to complement the editing team during absences and high volume work periods.
