French/English Bilingual Technical Translator
Scope of Work
USP is seeking Consultants to provide translation services (French/English) for written documents (e.g., project documents, reports) as well as simultaneous interpretation at meetings and workshops for project implementation in Francophone countries. This is a remote position where the consultant will be called to work on an as-needed basis, under specific Work Orders, and will report to the Consultant Supervisor listed on the respective Work Order.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide translation of key project documents, such as assessment reports, training reports, technical activity/progress reports and other communication materials for donor-funded projects in Francophone countries.
· Provide simultaneous interpretation for virtual meetings with stakeholders.
Deliverables:
· Translated documents.
· Activity-based report to USP program manager.
Qualifications
Education of translators:
· Bachelor’s degree in English Language (if native Francophone) or French Language (if native Anglophone) or interpretation/translation (French/English).
Experience:
· At least 5-years professional experience doing technical (medicines regulation and public health) translation for international agencies such as UN agencies, United States Government Agencies.
Knowledge:
· Must be proficient in English and French and possess excellent translation skills.
· Must have excellent writing skills.
· Certified professional translator.
· Basic knowledge of medicines regulation in Africa and public health issues/threats on the continent.
· High level of integrity and commitment to quality.
Period of Performance
The anticipated period of performance will be October 2022 to October 2024.
