Overview:
IBTCI is currently seeking a Gender, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Specialist for a proposal for USAID/Kenya and East Africa Mission’s Localization, Inclusion and Sustainability activity. The purpose of this project is to support USAID/Kenya and East Africa (KEA) staff and stakeholders to be more efficient, effective, transparent, inclusive, and skilled in achieving development outcomes. Enhancing USAID/KEA’s organizational project design; programming; Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) practices; diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) objectives, and mission wide localization efforts is critical to ensure the Mission’s Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS) and Regional Development Cooperation Strategy (RDCS) are implemented with a heightened focus on working with local partners. Elevating local voices and co-developing and co-creating our programs with local partners, including marginalized populations, girls and women, and youth, is key to the Mission and Agency’s priorities. This position is contingent on award.
In line with executive order 14035, the U.S. government aims increase the diversity of our workforce; increase our partnerships with non-traditional actors; integrate the most marginalized voices into our programming; and ensure staff is effectively listening and responding to the voices of local communities and partner nations. USAID/KEA is committed to implementing this vision. The Mission aims to raise awareness among Mission staff, Kenyan stakeholders, and implementing partners about the value of DEIA; further, integrate DEIA approaches into the Program Cycle; continue to diversify Mission partnerships while encouraging existing partners to incorporate promising DEIA approaches, and incorporate DEIA promising practices into all components of the Mission’s human resource processes.

Minimum Requirements:
Education: Master’s degree (or higher) in a sector relevant to training and capacity building (e.g., gender studies, DEIA studies, economics, public policy, international relations, statistics, political science, health, education, agriculture, etc.).
Working Environment: Work is typically performed in an office environment.
Physical Requirements: This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position may have supervisory responsibilities.
Travel: Domestic and international travel may be required and may include travel to fragile and/or conflict-prone zones. Travel is essential and may include travel to fragile and conflict-affected areas. An average of 25%-35% travel for project implementation and/or project management duties. Percentages may vary depending on IBTCI business needs.
