Position Summary:

CNFA is currently seeking a Gender, Youth, and Social Inclusions (GYSI) Lead for the USAID-funded Climate Resilient Agriculture Market Systems Activity in Egypt. The GYSI Lead will ensure the integration and mainstreaming of gender, youth, and social inclusion considerations throughout the project. The position will coordinate best practices across all levels of the program. The GYSI Lead will ensure that the social dimensions of food security and market systems are effectively addressed across all activity components, at all levels. Additionally, the GYSI Lead will work toward increasing gender equality and female and youth empowerment as a cross-cutting theme of the program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership to ensure gender, youth and social inclusion are effectively integrated across activity components at all levels throughout project implementation;
  • Lead the development of tools (i.e. GYSI monitoring tools and protocols) necessary to support the integration of gender and social inclusion across the project and its stakeholders.
  • Design and lead trainings to build capacity and awareness for project staff and stakeholders, and find ways to ensure GYSI activities are cross-cutting;
  • Support project team to draft and review for annual workplans, reports, training materials, and other technical reports Continuous analysis of contextual and socio-cultural factors in gender equity in project activities and review key project materials (i.e. reports, assessments, and studies) for engaging gender sensitivity and equity factors.
  • Ability to network and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders including private sector companies, government actors, SMEs, and civil society organizations;
  • Facilitation of national and regional workshops educating community members on gender and youth inclusion;

Job Requirements

Key Qualifications:

  • Minimum of (5) five years of relevant experience required; demonstrated gender and youth inclusion experience on a USAID-funded program in Egypt and/or MENA region is preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant academic area (e.g., a social science discipline). Master’s degree is preferred;
  • In-depth understanding of gender, youth, and other socio-cultural factors in Egypt within the context of food security programming;
  • Demonstrated experience leading participatory data collection and monitoring and evaluation focused on gender, youth, and other socio-cultural factors;
  • Experience building the capacity of stakeholders and program staff to facilitate gender and youth integration and empowerment is required;
  • Demonstrated experience in participatory learning and action and facilitating collaborative problem solving;
  • Knowledge of market systems, climate, agricultural, livelihood, and/or food security programming is preferred;
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead the collection, analysis, and utilization of information from a broad range of sources;
  • Skills in participatory learning and action and facilitating collaborative problem-solving;
  • Ability to foster commitment and build capacity among activity staff and in-country actors to ensure gender and youth integration and empowerment;
  • In-depth understanding of food security programming;
  • Strong English and Arabic language skills required.
