Job Description

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

The Accounting Department works in partnership with other Pathfinder International departments to accurately record and report financial results, implement and manage financial control measures, establish policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, and governmental and nongovernmental grant requirements.

POSITION PURPOSE:

The General Ledger Accountant is involved in the monthly financial statement close, accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, annual audit, accounting and other financial systems, and accounting policies, procedures, and controls. The role will have significant interaction with the Controller, FP&A Director, and other operational stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Preparation, review and posting of monthly journal entries to the general ledger
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Manage procurement operations for finance organization
  • Invoice review, payments, vendor management, and assistance with prepaid and accrued expenses
  • Preparation of US payroll entries and timesheet entries from the global timekeeping system (Deltek Time & Expense)
  • Assist with monthly close process including financial analysis and financial reporting
  • Support annual audits and tax return working in concert with external auditors
  • Oversee corporate credit card program and reconcile monthly corporate credit card statements
  • Other duties as required

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or Business Management with an emphasis in accounting
  • Strong knowledge of accounting
  • 5 years minimum relevant experience in accounting
  • Strong computer skills and experience with accounting software packages; proficiency with Microsoft suite
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA/CPA candidate preferred
  • Non-profit sector experience
  • Serenic / Microsoft Dynamics NAV and/or Deltek Costpoint ERP software experience
  • Experience with third party software for reporting and analytics
