Job Description

Mott MacDonald seeks an Operations Manager for the Girls Education South Sudan (GESS) programme and the Mott MacDonald project office in South Sudan, that hosts 6 projects. The Operations Manager is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of overall support services to GESS and Project Teams. This includes overall management of the offices, support services, utility management, general office supplies, financial management oversight and procurement. The Operations Manager is also the focal point for all security and safety matters.

The position is based in Juba-South Sudan and starts per 15th October 2014. The contract is for one year, but can be extended until 2018 by satisfactory performance.

The International Development Division (IDD) of Mott MacDonald operates as three separate sub-divisions within the international development arena, two sub-divisions (IDE and IDB) are based in the Netherlands and the third (IDC) in the UK. Based on our joint expertise we are able to provide our customers with a broad range of international development services.

International Development BMB (IDB) provides innovative management and supporting services with public and private sector development and social sector development as key business areas, assisting institutions around the world in designing and carrying out comprehensive institutional development projects.


IDD recruits for a wide range of project assignments in the area of International Development. We are involved in more than 90 projects in over 40 countries in Central and Eastern Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. We work for international funding institutions such as the EU, World Bank, DFID and African and Asian Development Bank. We continuously tender for new projects and are frequently looking for additional/replacement staff on existing projects (long and short term).

REQUIREMENTS
* More than 10 years International Management experience in conflict and post-conflict areas
* More than 5 years operational management experience in donor-funded development programmes.
* Long standing expertise with risk management, implementation of health, safety and security systems
* Able to communicate effectively on many different levels with all types of people.
* Knowledge and experience of the specific South Sudan operational management environment would be an asset
* Able to motivate the team and build a strong team and developing positive relationships among team members.
* Experience with tracking and measuring staff performance by setting work objectives for each of your team members and measure their progress.
* Proven experience to enforce standards and to adhere to all policies and practices established by the company and government regulations.
* Proven experience to infuse pride in company value and mission by acting with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture and mission of the company. In this respect experience with Mott MacDonald would be an asset.
