SGI is looking for a Geographic Information Systems Expert for an important assignment in the field of water resources planning and land use in Iraq. This assignment implies the expert’s long-term presence in the project area (at least a year). Therefore, the applicant should be available to spend most of the assigned man-months in Iraq. The applicant’s security will be under SGI’s responsibility.
He/she shall be in charge of the development of geospatial data including Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) Data, based on a preliminary geodatabase structure already available, and by integrating it with the missing GIS layers.
The applicant shall hold a degree in the field of engineering, geology, environmental sciences or equivalent, and shall have extensive experience in the development of the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing aimed at information and data processing.
In particular, the applicant shall be experienced in:
- Development and implementation of methodology and procedures for the processing of digital aerial imagery to create a geographical base for GIS;
- GIS development and implementation to support water resources planning/management, management of complex geodatabase.
He/she shall be proficient in English language. Knowledge of Arabic will be considered an asset.
