We’re Looking for You:

We are seeking a creative and driven intern to take part in our paid 10-week summer internship. The intern can be an undergraduate student, graduate student, or have graduated recently during the 2024 or 2025 academic year. This position is home-based in the United States and will provide a foundational opportunity to expand on both your skillset and knowledge in marketing and communications while networking across a global team with a range of expertise, from scientists to local practitioners. The selected candidate will take part in orientation, professional networking opportunities, and hands-on experience in the international conservation sector.

What We Can Achieve Together:

The Global Climate Communications Intern will be responsible for supporting the Global Mangrove Alliance team by building a robust pipeline of local stories and case studies, brainstorming engaging content around our key restoration and conservation focus areas and developing compelling messaging to further stakeholder engagement with our climate mitigation and adaptation efforts.

The Global Climate Communications Intern will also manage our editorial calendar. They will play a key role in growing our social media networks, promoting content, and creating template guides for country-level video creation. They will be a thought partner, sharing new perspectives and insights as we develop campaigns, advertisements and reels. The Intern will report to the Global Communications Manager of Climate Resilience.

As the Global Climate Communications Intern, you will:

• Build a robust pipeline of local stories and case studies
• Co-develop compelling messaging for the editorial calendar of the Global Mangrove Alliance
• Track timeline, edits and publication of Steering Committee Newsroom posts
• Provide support around major touchpoints, like State of the Worlds Mangroves, and related media campaigns and events
• Brainstorm innovative ideas to motivate engagement of target audiences
• Assist in creating video reel templates for chapter members to use locally
• Pull out engaging stories from our major publications and translate into digestible assets to share widely within our network

What You’ll Bring:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• HS Diploma or equivalent. Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program of communications, marketing, or related field, or a recent graduate with a degree in one of these or a related field.
• Knowledge of/interest in mangroves, climate change impacts and/or the ocean.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience in research, writing, and editing.
• Close attention to detail.
• Access to a reliable internet connection

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Coursework and/or exposure related to communications/marketing
• Self-starter, taking initiative, and demonstrating confidence to ask questions and seek input
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated
• Knowledge of Canva, Adobe, and Microsoft products, with the ability to construct and produce reports
• Excellent science communication writing, presentation, and communication skills.
• Brings and excitement for the work and a collaborative spirit!

ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION

This is a full-time, home-based, temporary internship position with a 10-week term from June 1 to August 7, 2026.

Salary Information:

The pay for a candidate selected for this position is $17.00 /hour. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
