Job Description
Overview
The Global Health Officer works across the Global Health team to provide writing and content development, research, and project management on global health partnerships including immunizations and malaria.
Working Relationships
The Global Health Officer reports to the Vice President, Global Health Strategy and works closely with the Global Health team.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a focal point for UNF’s work on polio and the Polio Advocacy and Communications Team (PACT) under the guidance of, and in close collaboration with, the Senior Fellow for Global Health Diplomacy and Vice President for Global Health Strategy.
- Work closely with the Senior Fellow for Global Health Diplomacy in his role as co-chair of the Polio Partners Group, the major 200+ person stakeholder group for the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, including drafting memos and analyses, and organizing semi-annual workshops for PPG partners.
- Manage a portfolio of immunization and malaria grants to multilateral partners.
- Work with Senior Officer, Global Health to manage malaria portfolio, including policy analyses and other advocacy efforts with partners outside the US, and support research initiatives, background papers, and talking points on malaria.
- Work closely with Vice President, Global Health Strategy to strategically manage UNF partnership with UNICEF.
- Conduct occasional research on prospective global health partners and donors, and issues of relevance to the UN Foundation. Author and/or review proposals and/or reports to donors.
- Prepare meeting agendas, meeting memos, briefing memos, letters, talking points and presentations on immunization and malaria issues, as well as other global health issues, for UNF senior leadership.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
About the Organization
Selection Criteria
- Minimum of 5-7 years progressively responsible work experience public health or global development.
- Experience in advocacy, outreach, fundraising, or resource mobilization, especially in a global context desirable.
- Master's in Public Health or related field a strong plus.
- Familiarity with malaria and/or immunizations highly desirable.
- Previous experience in grant management.
- Strong communications, research, and professional writing skills, especially for external audiences.
- Ability to multi-task and juggle many projects at once is a must.
- Advanced knowledge of and experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Personal commitment to UNF's vision and the ability to articulate it to others in a manner that compels them to action.
- Previous experience developing written materials (analyses, reports, talking points, etc.) for senior executives and members of boards of directors.
- Self starter.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary commensurate with experience. Actual salary will depend on qualifications and anticipated contribution to the Foundation.
