The Opportunity

Abt’s Global Security Office delivers insights, technical assistance, and leadership that diminish risk. We design, implement, and manage systems that address the safety and security challenges facing Abt around the world.

As a member of the Global Security Office, you will identify, anticipate, mitigate, and respond to threats facing Abt’s people, assets, and interests across a broad project portfolio. You will proactively identify and communicate security-related challenges and conduct research on topics that influence Abt’s ability to accomplish our objectives safely. The products you create will inform high-stakes operational and strategic decisions on physical security. In this role, you will have regular opportunities to partner with colleagues across the organization, exercise your curiosity, and expand your skills.

Core Responsibilities

  • Participate in a wide range of activities to diminish safety and security risk to Abt staff and projects globally
  • Analyze security risks and trends, applying both quantitative and qualitative research techniques
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, briefings, and reports
  • Respond to inbound security-related inquiries
  • Perform security-related administrative processes

What We Value

  • A Bachelor’s degree + 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree
  • Fluency or working proficiency in another language such as French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, or Arabic (in addition to English)
  • Experience living and working abroad, especially in humanitarian, development, and emergency contexts
  • Ability to work in a consultative fashion across multiple internal teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing focus and requirements
  • Well-rounded understanding of and interest in international security, particularly issues impacting the international development community
  • Knowledge of security management approaches and interventions in international development
  • Familiarity with both strategic and tactical security planning
  • Exceptional research, writing, and editing skills
  • Ability to independently collect and synthesize information
  • Experience generating security or risk assessments, intelligence products, or related analytical products
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and data visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or ArcGIS is preferred
  • US work authorization is required with no visa sponsorship

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $70,000 to $110,000, and may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographic location. Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis.
