Job Summary
Abt Associates seeks a qualified Secruity Analyst to join the Global Security Office in Rockville, MD. In this position, you will support global requirements across a broad project portfolio. As a member of Abt’s Global Security Office, you will identify, anticipate, measure, and mitigate threats to Abt’s people, assets, and interests. You will proactively identify and communicate security-related challenges and conduct research on topics that influence Abt’s ability to accomplish our objectives safely. The products you produce will inform high-stakes operational and strategic decisions on physical security. In this role, you will have regular opportunities to partner with colleagues across the organization, exercise your curiosity, and expand your skills.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Participate in a wide range of activity to diminish security risk to Abt staff and projects
- Support security needs for both domestic and international projects
- Conduct research and analysis on topical issues, applying quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques and methods
- Contribute to longer-term security-focused analytic projects and recurring reflective products
- Prepare and deliver presentations, briefings, and reports
- Receive and respond to inbound security-related inquiries
- Perform security-related administrative processes
Preferred Qualifications
General
- Ability to communicate with fluency in English and another language (e.g. French, Arabic, or other) is highly desirable
- Experience living and working abroad, especially in humanitarian, development, and emergency contexts
- Creativity and clarity in constructing clear, logical arguments with supporting evidence
- Ability to work in a consultative fashion across multiple internal teams and stakeholders
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing focus and requirements
- Familiarity with SharePoint
Security
- Possess a well-rounded understanding of and interest in security issues impacting the international development community
- Knowledge of security approaches and interventions in international development
- Familiarity with travel tracking, security assessments, and planning
Analysis & analytics
- Exceptional writing, research, and editorial capabilities—strong command of English grammar
- Ability to independently synthesize information and resources to identify opportunities and solutions
- Strong data manipulation and visualization skills
- Proficient with Excel and Access. Familiarity with Tableau, and ArcGIS desirable
- Experience generating assessments, criminal intelligence, crime analysis, or spatial analysis
Minimum Qualifications
- BA/BS in a relevant discipline with 4-7 years’ experience OR MA/MS in a relevant discipline with 2 years’ of related experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience
