Reports to: Associate Director, Grants

Salary range: £32,400 to £34,300 | $49,800 to $52,800

I. Position Summary
The Grants Associate will support Malala Fund’s grants administration as an integral member of the Programmes Team. Working directly with members of the Grants Team, they will support the grant portfolio through due diligence, preparation of grant materials and data management of awarded and proposed grants; and will assist the team in the management of Malala Fund grantmaking initiatives, work plans and budgets. They will support administration of the online grants management system to ensure system accessibility and grants data accuracy. The ideal candidate is a highly organised individual with strong analytical skills who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented, diverse environment.

II. Responsibilities

Grants Management

• Manages due diligence of grant applicants; including ensuring financial, legal and administrative compliance.
• Prepares grant agreements and grant disbursement requests.
• Ensures grant files are accurate and current across multiple data storage platforms.
• Assembles grant data for internal and external Malala Fund stakeholders.
• Manages grantmaking calendar, work plans and assists with monitoring grant portfolio budgets.
• Conducts research to advance programme development.
• Assumes other grants management responsibilities as needed.

Grants System Administration

• Supports with the administration of the grantmaking database system to ensure grants data accuracy.
• Configures and modifies system forms, processes, and workflows to support new program initiatives or process changes.

III. Knowledge, Experience and Behaviours

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree and minimum 1 year of related experience OR demonstrable equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with budgets and financial information.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise multiple projects and meet deadlines across multiple time zones.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail, accuracy and quality.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Google Suite.
• Demonstrated interest in and familiarity with issues in international education, girls’ empowerment and international development.
• Strong commitment to Malala Fund’s mission, purpose and values.
• Strong commitment to gender equality, anti-racism, anti-discrimination, decolonisation and social justice
• Strong commitment to professional development and continued learning.
• Excellent team player with ability to work independently and in collaboration with colleagues at all levels across departments and external stakeholders.

Desirable

• Working knowledge of any language(s) relevant to Malala Fund’s work
• Prior technical experience using a Grant Management System is a plus.
• Previous experience in a similar role.
