Project and Position Description:

Deloitte Consulting LLP, Emerging Markets Group, an international consulting firm based in the United States, is currently accepting applications for senior and mid-level specialists for the five year USAID LIVCD (Lebanon Industry Value Chain Development) Project. Project objectives are to increase incomes and employment in rural areas. The project will partner with the private sector, including farmers, input suppliers, transporters, agro-processors, exporters, and small-medium sized enterprises to raise the competitiveness of value chains. We are seeking a long term High Value Horticulture Fruit and Vegetable Agronomist who has previous successful work history in agriculture value chain development in the Middle East. Candidate should have experience with fruits and vegetables in a range of areas including integrated pest management, use of inputs, soil management, crop rotation systems, irrigation, outdoor and greenhouse cultivation, and harvesting methods. Position Responsibilities include:

Provide the overall technical direction for project activities directed at increasing agricultural productivity and production.

Design training, mentoring and technology transfer methodologies and interventions for the project based on Lebanon-specific context and good agricultural practices.

Work with project team and local stakeholders to increase knowledge and usage by farmers and producer groups of improved farming techniques for primary agricultural products.


Qualifications:

Fluency in English Language is required; Arabic preferred

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Experience working in the Middle East; Lebanon preferred

Masters Degree in Agriculture related field (Agronomy, Agricultural Economics) or equivalent; commensurate experience considered

Minimum of 7 years of agricultural sector implementing agricultural production activities

Experience performing in a technical leadership role on international development projects

International Donor experience preferred

Ability to work in a multi disciplinary team

Ability to travel to and work in challenging environments, including conflict-affected areas
