Devex is currently assisting the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in their search for a HR Associate – Employee Relations to be based in Beijing, China.

BACKGROUND

The Human Resources Department (HRD) is responsible for the development and implementation of AIIB’s human resource strategies, policies, and programs to attract, hire, develop, and retain talent. HRD also provides advice on human resources and corporate culture-related matters to ensure alignment of all relevant policies and actions. It also supports the realization of AIIB’s mission, vision, corporate culture, corporate strategy and business goals, specifically in the areas of strategic staffing, talent management, change management, organizational and performance management, succession planning, learning and development, compensation and benefits, and recognition and rewards.

The position of HR Associate – Employee Relations (ER) plays a critical supportive role in maintaining positive employee relations and encouraging the promotion of a productive, harmonious, respectful and inclusive work environment at AIIB. Reporting to the Senior Employee Relations Officer, the Associate will help interpret the Bank’s relevant internal legal framework – such as the Staff Regulations, Staff Rules, Code of Conduct for Bank Personnel – HR policies, programs and initiatives, and support the ER function to resolve workplace conflicts and manage administrative grievances/complaints. The incumbent will contribute to employee engagement at the Bank through training programs related to employee relations, engage with the Bank’s staff representative body (Staff Council) and support the ER function and HR colleagues to advise stakeholders on people management.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical and operational support to the Senior Employee Relations Officer (SERO) in the execution of ER/HR related strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with ER’s business goals and objectives.
  • Facilitate effective communication, between the SERO/ER function, other HR business units, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and consistency on ER related initiatives and processes.
  • From an ER perspective, interpret the Bank’s legal and policy framework, identifying potential gaps in practice and areas of improvement to ensure compliance and consistency across HR policies.
  • Conduct research and analysis on emerging ER trends, benchmarking, and best practices to support the continuous development and enhancement of ER programs and initiatives.
  • Stay informed of emerging technologies and methodologies that could improve ER and HR processes, efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Maintain the relevant HR data systems and tools, ensuring they are up to date and aligned with the needs of the ER function, facilitating smooth operations.
  • Contribute to the preparation of materials for ER-related meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Ensure high quality delivery and flawless execution of ER programs and initiatives.
  • Perform any other duties/responsibilities assigned by the SERO or Director General of HR.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess at the minimum an advanced law degree (Master’s/LLM/JD) from a recognized educational institution, master’s degree/equivalent in human resources or organizational psychology, or other related fields. Substantial relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the identified professional degree qualifications.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in the field of law, administrative and institutional law, human resources or organizational psychology, preferably in an employee relations function within an HR Department.
  • A strong sense of professionalism, maturity, discretion, emotional intelligence and creativity to independently propose solutions to problems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing and/or managing projects, ideally related to HR, policy or legal matters.
  • Effective organizational abilities, and a strong knowledge of MS Office and HR systems.
  • Exhibit the sensitivity required to operate in a diverse multicultural setting.
  • Experience working in an international organization or financial institution would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of other languages would be an advantage.
