Position Objective
The HR Business Partner and Compensations & Benefits (C&B) Specialist, reporting to the Head of Human Resources, is responsible for the design/update of the employee compensation and benefits policy, and overseeing its implementation, working closely with the other HR Business Partners (HRBP) to ensure that their Business Units (BUs) are compliant to the Fund’s HR Rules framework. S/he will invest her/his holistic knowledge of Human Resource Management (HRM) to advise leadership, management and staff and provide them with sound, tailored effective and coherent talent management solutions.
Duties and responsibilities
Purpose
- Actively support managers in the workforce/capacity planning and change management efforts in the assigned Business Units.
- Lead development and or update of the compensation and benefits policy in alignment with the Fund’s People strategy, ensuring effective use of budget resources.
- Ensure relevance and competitiveness of GCF’s compensation and benefits, through the application of industry best-practice and benchmarking with GCF comparators organizations.
Engagement
- Advise management and business leaders on i) the C&B policies and their consistent and fair application, and ii) talent management and people/organization capability building.
- To be an advocate of the GCF’s Core values, Code of Conduct and HR policies and practices, with staff members from the moment of onboarding until the end of their contracts.
- Collaborate with other HRBPs to map the C&B needs within their business units, aiming to assist in the improvement of the current C&B package of the Fund.
- Enhance relationships with similar organizations to exchange information, understand their HR practices and take advantage of the lessons learnt. Attend HR networking events — both within the IO system and the private sector.
Delivery
- Provide seasoned advice and guidance on a range of HR regulations, rules and procedures to managers, supervisors and staff, proactively building a mutual understanding of policies, regulations and roles in the development of GCF’s talent.
- Optimize the systems and procedures targeted to specific staff needs in HR key areas to include: compensation, benefits, rewards and incentives.
- Provide advice and guidance to managers and staff regarding the quality of work relationships and expected behaviors, according to GCF’s core values.
- Oversight of the preparation of payroll inputs and entitlements payment in coordination with the Finance department.
Required experience and qualifications*
- Master’s degree or higher in HR, Administration, Psychology or relevant fields; or relevant Bachelor’s degree with 2 additional years of experience.
- At least nine (9) years of relevant work experience in the international setting, with demonstrated professional competence and success in C&B or Rewards management, as well as ability to operate effectively in a fast-changing environment; previous experience in an HR Business Partners model is an asset;
- Strong knowledge of HR processes and trends in the field. HR certifications such as SHRM and HRCI are valuable;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential for this position; knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
