The Human Rights Council Branch (HRCB) serves as the Secretariat of the Human Rights Council (HRC). Established through the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) resolution 60/251 in 2006, the HRC is an inter-governmental body responsible for the promotion and protection of human rights around the globe with a platform to discuss thematic human rights issues and situations. The UPR ensures equal treatment for every country when human rights situations are assessed. More information on the UPR can be found at https://www.ohchr.org/en/hr-bodies/upr/upr-home.
