As a Medior Advisor you contribute or are responsible for the implementation of assignments such as (rigorous) impact evaluations, advisory services, training, and applied research. We often work in project teams, which means that sharing knowledge and expertise, as well as creating opportunities for team participation is important. Therefore, you are able to deliver quality outputs both by working independently and as part of a team. The desired candidate should have a particular affinity with numbers, strong background in quantitative research methods and statistics.

KIT Royal Tropical Institute has a vacancy for impact evaluator/development economist for 32 to 38 hours a week. The department of Sustainable Economic Development and Gender comprises an international team of about 40 advisors working to improve the performance of programs, companies and organizations that pursue sustainable and inclusive development. The M&E for Social Impact team is one of the three teams in this department. We offer strategic, tailor-made advice based on data and evidence to help our development partners manage, evaluate and improve their impact. We do this through impact evaluations, applied research, advisory services, and long-term impact management partnerships with implementing organizations. The team consists of 9 advisors with a strong quantitative research background (econometrics, applied statistics, data science) and with diverse thematic expertise. The work takes place majorly at KIT’s office in Amsterdam but also, from home or other places when necessary. It will eventually require travelling for short assignments to different low and middle-income countries (LMICs). Our organisation’s working language is English.

The applicant will join an international team working in a multidisciplinary unit of 40 advisors. The main fields of work of the unit are Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL), inclusive food systems, agricultural development, rural resilience, agri-food value chains, responsible business conduct, and gender.
