Job Description

Purpose of the assignment

The purpose of the assignment is to support the Child Protection Area of Responsibility (CP AoR) with the management of its relationships with their partners, in particular the newly established partnership with CPC Columbia university which includes planned interactions with regional universities and helpdesks. The individual contractor is expected to put in place management systems to ensure the continuity of this new CP AoR project, given the current circumstances linked to the spread of COVID-19.

Scope of Work: Under the supervision of the Global CP AoR Deputy Coordinator, the individual contractor will support the management of new and existing partnerships. This will include establishing and/or monitoring projects workplans as appropriate, as well putting in place modalities for remote meetings and trainings.

The individual contractor will pay particular attention to the newly signed partnership with CPC Columbia University, for which remote project management tools will have to be implemented, including tools to monitor the project’s progress. As the current COVID 19 public health emergency is affecting planned meetings for this as well as other CP AoR events, such as the annual meeting, remote meeting mechanisms will be necessary. The contractor will be expected to support the organization of remote trainings and events, as well as coordinate with the different partners involved in the partnerships to ensure their full participation. All activities will have to be documented.

Minimum qualifications: An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Development Studies, Development Economics, International relations or related field Experience:
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant professional work experience. National and/or International work experience in coordination, project management, administration, data analysis and/or related field.
  • Previous international experience in development or project management through work or studies is an asset.
  • Experience in result-based approach to work planning, budget management, donor reporting and programme structure is an asset.
  • Experience with managing remote projects is an asset.

Language: Fluency in English required. Basic knowledge in Spanish and French desirable.

Technical skills:

  • Solid skills in Office programs such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint required.
  • Solid event-planning skills, including virtual meetings and remote participation.
  • Knowledge of UN and UNICEF specific financial policies is an asset.
