Introduction
AGRA invites qualified individual consultants to submit proposals for Market Facilitator for Youth Entrepreneurship Growth, Resilience and Opportunities (YEGRO). This document outlines the requirements and guidelines for submitting your proposal.
Objectives of the Assignment
The objective of this consultancy is to hire a market facilitator who will provide tailored support to 16 youth Agripreneurs selected for the YEGRO Grant Program. The selected youth are from across continent drawn from the following 8 countries: Nigeria, Tanzania, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Mali and Burundi. The market facilitator will assist in aligning grant funding with the specific business needs of the Agripreneurs and provide essential business advisory services to promote growth, resilience, and job creation within the supported enterprises.
4. Scope of work
The market facilitator will be responsible for the following tasks:
i. Conducting initial assessments of selected youth-led SMEs to understand their business models, challenges, and growth opportunities.
ii. Providing one-on-one advisory sessions to Agripreneurs to assist them in developing strategic business plans, identifying key constraints, and formulating actionable solutions.
iii. Facilitating workshops and training sessions on topics relevant to agribusiness development, such as market analysis, financial management, and inclusive business practices.
iv. Supporting Agripreneurs in effectively utilizing their grant funds to address systemic barriers hindering the growth and scalability of their enterprises.
v. Monitoring and evaluating the progress of Agripreneurs, providing ongoing feedback and support, and adjusting strategies as needed to ensure successful implementation of grant-funded projects.
vi. Facilitating networking opportunities and fostering collaboration among Agripreneurs, stakeholders, and partners within the agricultural ecosystem. Consultant should have operations in Kenya or Rwanda.
Duration of the Assignment
The duration of the assignment is six (6) months, from August 2025 – January 2026.
Key qualifications and experience required.
The required consultant should have the following attributes:
a) Education:
Master’s degree in a Relevant Field
b) Required Relevant Experience and qualifications.
· Experience (minimum of 5 years) working in the agricultural sector, with a focus on agribusiness development, entrepreneurship, or related fields.
· Strong understanding of agricultural value chains, market dynamics, and challenges faced by youth Agripreneurs in Africa.
· Demonstrated experience in providing business advisory services, including strategic planning, financial management, and market analysis.
· Experience in managing grants or funding programs, with a track record of supporting entrepreneurs in effectively utilizing financial resources to achieve business objectives.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including youth Agripreneurs, government agencies, NGOs, and private sector partners.
· Creative problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying innovative solutions to complex challenges.
· Cultural sensitivity and adaptability to work effectively with individuals from different backgrounds and cultures across Africa.
· Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize activities, and meet deadlines.
· Strong networking skills and the ability to build partnerships and collaborations within the agricultural ecosystem.
Proposal Submission Instructions
Proposals shall be submitted electronically through our oracle system by the deadline indicated in the system.
i. Bidders shall use the bid submission forms that have been provided under Annex 1 & 2.
ii. The proposals SHALL be submitted via oracle system by the deadline indicated on the oracle system.
iii. The Proposals shall be prepared in English.
iv. Late submissions will not be accepted, as the system is configured to automatically reject proposals after the deadline. To avoid any issues, especially for new users, bidders are strongly encouraged to submit proposals at least one day before the deadline.
v. AGRA assures bidders that we can’t access proposals before the deadline provided by the system.
vi. VALIDITY of the proposal shall be for a period of 90 days from the date of bid closure.
vii. The detailed financial proposal shall be uploaded under the lines section in oracle.
viii. The financial proposal shall include all taxes. If the financial proposal is silent on taxes, AGRA shall assume that these are inclusive.
ix. Prices must be quoted in USD ($). Contracting will be in USD and bidders are encouraged to have a USD bank account.
x. Please note that the oracle system will seal the financial proposals until the technical evaluation is completed.
