Job Description

Background

The African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF), established in 1991, is Africa’s premier institution dedicated to building sustainable human and institutional capacity for development. With a membership of 40 African countries and key multilateral partners—including the African Development Bank (AfDB), African Union (AU), UNDP, and the World Bank—ACBF has over three decades of experience strengthening public sector institutions, think tanks, and regional bodies across the continent.

Under its 2023–2027 Strategic Plan, ACBF is implementing programs across four Key Impact Areas, including Climate Change and Energy for Productive Use and Agribusiness and Food Sovereignty.

ACBF is looking for project management specialist on a short-term assignment to support the delivery of its programmes.

Purpose of the Assignment

The objective of this assignment is to ensure effective planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of ongoing activities within the Agribusiness and Climate and Energy Units during the period of the assignment.

Duration of the Assignment

  • Initial duration: Three (3) months

Duty Station: Accra, Ghana.

Scope of Work

Under the supervision of the Director, Programs and Impact, and in close collaboration with the Agribusiness and Climate and Energy teams, the consultant will cover for the following responsibilities:

Program Coordination and Implementation Support

  • Support planning, scheduling, and coordination of ongoing program activities.
  • Monitor implementation progress against approved work plans and timelines.
  • Provide technical and administrative inputs to ensure timely execution of project deliverables.
  • Support the organization of meetings, workshops, missions, and stakeholder engagements.

Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation

  • Track activity implementation against approved budgets and performance indicators.
  • Contribute to preparation of monthly updates and quarterly progress reports.
  • Maintain up-to-date tracking tools and implementation matrices.
  • Ensure systematic documentation and archiving of project records and correspondence.

Partnership and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate with implementing partners, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure follow-up on agreed actions.
  • Participate in partner meetings and prepare concise meeting briefs and action trackers.
  • Support drafting of concept notes, briefing notes, and correspondence.
  • Provide technical inputs to proposal development and resource mobilization processes, as required.

Administrative and Logistical Support

  • Assist in coordinating logistical arrangements for program events and missions.
  • Facilitate internal communication between program units and relevant operational support units (Finance, Procurement, M&E, Communications).
  • Ensure compliance with ACBF operational procedures in all assigned activities.

Expected Deliverables

The consultant will deliver the following outputs:

  • Monthly progress summaries highlighting achievements, challenges, and next steps.
  • Draft quarterly project progress reports (as applicable during the assignment period).
  • Organized and up-to-date documentation repository for ongoing projects.
  • Meeting notes and structured follow-up trackers for partner engagements (as applicable during the assignment period).
  • Technical inputs to proposals or concept notes as requested.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in development studies, Climate Change, Agroeconomics, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in program coordination and implementation within development institutions in Africa.
  • Demonstrated experience in monitoring and reporting, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.

Reporting Line

The Consultant will report directly to the Director, Programs and Impact and work closely with the Agribusiness and Climate and Energy teams, as well as relevant cross-cutting units.

Remuneration

The consultant will receive a competitive consultancy fee commensurate with qualifications and experience, in accordance with ACBF consultancy rates and policies.

The anticipated start date is on: 8 March 2026.
