Qualifications and skills required
The candidate for the position of Accountant must have the following qualifications and professional experience:
- Hold a higher diploma (BAC+3) at least in the following areas: accounting, management control and audit, accounting and financial management, financial administration or any other equivalent diploma;
- Have a minimum of five (05) years of professional experience in the fields of accounting, finance or auditing, including at least three (03) years as Senior Accountant or Accounting Assistant, in development projects or in an international development institution;
- Have a minimum of three (03) years of experience as an Accountant for a project financed by international donors (World Bank, African Development Bank, BOAD etc.);
- Have a good knowledge of public finances and financial management of projects financed by technical and financial partners (World Bank, AfDB, BOAD, etc.);
- Having a good command of the accounting software used by the projects (SUCCESS, or TOMPRO etc.) would be a major asset and highly recommended (training certificate and practical experience);
- Have completed training on the Accounting System for Non-Profit Entities;
- Be of good character;
- Have good skills for teamwork and in a pressure environment;
- Have good professional integrity;
- Have a good knowledge of French, both spoken and written, good communication and report writing skills;
- Knowledge of English would be an asset;
- Good problem-solving skills;
- Good knowledge of commonly used work software (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
- Good command of communication tools (e-mail or other).
DURATION AND LOCATION OF THE MISSION
The Consultant will be recruited for the duration of the project implementation with a trial period of six (06) months. If the trial period is conclusive, he will sign a contract for a period of one (01) year renewable for the duration of the project. The renewal will be made after a satisfactory annual performance evaluation made on the basis of the performance criteria in relation to the terms of reference of the contract. At the end of each annual evaluation, the authorized representative of the project will notify the Consultant by mail of the continuation or not of his contract depending on the results of the evaluation. This notification will be made within a maximum period of thirty (30) days, failing which the contract will be considered to have been renewed. Given the urgency and the imperatives of implementing the project, the consultant must be immediately available for the start of the mission. The position will be based in Cotonou (Benin) with possibilities of travel within the country
