Job Description

Under the USAID Inclusive Development Activity for Mission Support (IDAMS), Making Cents is developing a set of case studies that support USAID’s Commitment #5 under the Equity Action Plan, “to implement a consistent approach to incorporate racial and ethnic equity and diversity into policy, planning, and learning.” The case studies document the piloting of the Racial and Ethnic Equity Inclusion Self-Assessment Tool, adapted from USAID’s Collaborating Learning and Adapting Framework and Maturity Index, across six countries globally. Findings generated from these case studies have informed a supplementary resource intended for USAID staff: Technical Guidance for Advancing Racial and Ethnic Equity. As a next step, the content from both the case studies and the Technical Guidance document will be turned into an e-learning course on USAID University, the Agency’s learning management system for its staff. Making Cents is seeking an Instructional Designer to lead the development of this e-learning course.

Roles and Tasks
The Instructional Designer will work with the IDAMS team to conceptualize, develop, and publish the e-learning course. The Instructional Designer will:

  • Develop the first draft of a detailed course design document
  • Address client and subject matter expert feedback on the detailed course design document
  • Develop the e-learning course in alignment with the final course design document
  • Update the e-learning course in response to feedback
  • Finalize e-learning course
  • Support team in publishing e-learning package on USAID University

Proposed Level of Effort
The maximum level of effort will be 30 days.

Work Schedule
The timeline for this activity is December 2023-April 2024.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of experience, master’s degree with at least 8 years of experience, or a Ph.D. with at least 4 years of experience
  • Spoken and written fluency in English
  • Prior experience in designing and developing e-learning modules
  • Skilled in developing comprehensive training materials tailored to technical specifications
  • Skilled in collaborating with clients to gather information and ensure the accuracy of the training content
  • Experienced in conducting periodic assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of the training materials and make necessary revisions
