Cowater is currently looking for an expert in integrated water resources management (IWRM) to act as a consultant on a sector study for Urban and Rural WWCs in the Islamic Republic of Iran. The objective of the assignment is to work with the urban and rural water and wastewater companies to transform the companies into autonomous self-financing water and wastewater utilities.

Based in Iran, the IWRM expert will focus primarily on the development of wastewater management integrating elements of water resources management and providing recommendations for whether integrated management of water and wastewater id feasible or not in Iran. The position will be for a 4 months effort during the Phase I of 8 months, 4 months in the Phase 2 of 10 months and 1 month in the Phase 3 of 4 months.

The expert will be responsible to contribute to critically review and assess the current status of the water and wastewater sector in Iran; to contribute to the development of a draft national framework for sustainable governance and financing within the water and wastewater sector in rural Iran and recommendations for implementation of this framework.

Candidates must be fluent in English.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Expertise in management of water and wastewater domains
  • 15 years of experience in a variety of developing countries
  • Very strong writing and communications skills in English
  • Professional fluency in English
  • In-depth knowledge of national frameworks in countries similar to Iran, particularly in rural settings
