Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all peacekeeping and special political missions around the world as well as to other UN Offices, Agencies Funds and Programs. This position is located within the Campus Support Unit/Technical, within the Central Service, based in the United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) in Brindisi, Italy. The CAD Designer intern reports to the Chief Central Service. The internship is for six (6) months. Two (2) posts are available. The internship is unpaid and full-time. The intern will support the team in updating and managing technical documentation related to real estate assets.

Tasks will include:

1. Assist in the creation and updating of architectural and technical drawings to accurately reflect the current status of real estate assets, including buildings, open areas, and supporting infrastructure.

2. Help to conduct onsite surveys (in coordination with supervisors or engineers) to collect accurate measurements and verify existing layouts.

3. Assist in developing and maintaining floor plans, site plans, and elevation drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).

4. Contribute to ensuring that all drawings clearly represent the functional use, allocation, and spatial organization of each real estate asset.

5. Support the integration of changes resulting from renovations, new constructions, or reallocations into the official drawings and records.

6. Collaborate with the facilities management, engineering, and planning teams to ensure all drawings meet operational, technical, and visual standards.

7. Help in maintaining a digital archive of drawings and ensure consistent file naming and version control practices.

Qualifications/special skills

• Education: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). The field of studies must be closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for (Engineering, Architecture or related).
• Applicant must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Programme.
• Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required (Engineering, Architecture or related). Knowledge of AutoCAD is required.
• Be computer literate in standard software applications such as Office 365 particularly MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point, SharePoint is required.
