Spring/Summer 2014 Project Management Internship

Social Impact, Inc.

Duration: June – December 2014

Great opportunity to get broad exposure to international development consulting and to deepen your exposure to gender integration within strategic planning, capacity building and evaluation!

Social Impact (SI) is an international development management consulting firm working to enhance the effectiveness of international development organizations and the programs they support. SI works in the sectors of democracy and governance, health, education, economic growth and environment. SI seeks a new Gender Practice Intern to support a variety of activities in that capture and support the work of SI’s service areas: 1) Performance Evaluation and 2) Strategy, Performance, and Capacity Building. The intern will work under the direction of the Gender Practice Leader.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Conducting research on gender analysis methods
  2. Supporting internal and external knowledge management on the gender practice
  3. Supporting implementation of Social Impact’s internal gender audit
  4. Providing quality assurance and revisions to reports and other written deliverables
  5. Completing special projects under direction of SI Gender Practice Leader

The internship will provide broad exposure to the field of international development consulting from the perspective of gender integration and mainstreaming. This will be an excellent opportunity to learn about development projects funded by USAID, Department of State, and other international aid donors.

Requirements:

  • Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or current Bachelor’s or Master’s degree candidates
  • Highly motivated, dynamic, detail-oriented, and team player.
  • Superior writing and editing abilities.
  • Must be strong at multi-tasking, prioritizing, and willing to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Flexibility and willingness to undertake a wide variety of tasks working with various individuals.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel a must.

Location: Social Impact HQ offices in Arlington, VA (Courthouse Metro stop); occasional travel to and from Washington, DC

Compensation: Monthly stipend of $1000 provided with minimum 40 hour work week schedule during the summer; $500 with minimum 20 hour work week during the school year.
