SERD/ SGO is looking for an intern who will support the ADB ASEAN Power Grid initiative.

5. Expected Outcomes
- A clear, evidence-based reference note on wheeling charge methodologies applicable to multi-country power trade in ASEAN, including comparative insights from other regional power markets.
- A practical framework for mobilizing institutional capital into APG-related projects, mapping specific barriers and identifying potential financial structures or risk-mitigation tools suitable for insurers, pension funds and asset managers.
- Client-ready research outputs (notes, slides and briefing materials) for use by ADB teams in policy dialogue and transaction preparation.
- Strengthened internal understanding through structured interviews and knowledge capture from ADB staff and selected external experts.
Qualifications
7. Education Requirements
Currently enrolled in a master’s degree program or PhD in economics, energy systems, public policy, development finance, engineering, or a related field with strong analytical training and familiarity with infrastructure or energy markets.
8. Relevant Experience and Other Requirements
- Preferably 2-3 years of relevant professional experience in energy infrastructure and market or in infrastructure economics/finance.
- Demonstrated interest in energy transition, power markets or infrastructure finance
- Proven ability to prepare polished, client-ready presentations in PowerPoint
- Strong research, quantitative and writing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex regulatory and technical information succinctly
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an international team, with attention to detail and strategic insight
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
