Job Description

The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received credit from the International Development Association (IDA) toward the cost of the Information and Communication Technology Assisted Development Project. The Project intends to apply a portion of the fund to eligible payment under the contract for which this invitation is issued.

The Project now invites International Instructors for Graduate School of Telecommunications and Information Technology (GSTIT) the Partners Institution, of ICTAD Project included under the first component (policy and institutional support) with share of released fund for the Project activities.

GSTIT is an upgrade of the former Ethiopian Telecommunication Training Institute (ETTI), which was established on 27 July 1953 by the Ethiopian Government in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The Institute was aimed to address the lack of trained & skilled personnel in the then Imperial Board of Telecommunications and produce middle level administrative and technical staff.

The Management of the Ethiopian Telecommunications Corporation, with the direction of the government, decided to upgrade the Institute to a college level that can provide graduate education, research & professional training programs in order to meet the need for highly qualified and knowledgeable ICT specialists who play important roles in the ICT sector in general & the Ethiopian Telecommunications Corporation. GSTIT provides state of the art education, research and training in ICT and technology management. The program components include:

I. Graduate Programs

• MSc in Information Technology Department • MSc in Telecommunications Engineering Department • Telecom MBA Department

II. Professional Training

• Post graduate diploma in ICT Policy & Regulation • Professional Training program in IT, Telecom Engineering & Business studies • Cisco Network Academy Programs (CCNA) • International certification programs such as PMP are under way

GSTIT is unique in its kind by being focused on ICT and has an excellent teaching learning environment equipped with the state of the art technology. It is committed in the provision of quality education, research & training programs. The College is committed to play important role in recognizing and meeting the ICT education, research, training and development needs of the country (diverse clientele including individuals, employers, community and industry organizations). Hence, the Project invites three Instructors for the following higher vacant teaching staff positions. They are:

• 1. Instructor of Telecom MBA Program • 2. Instructor of Information Technology Program • 3. Instructor of Telecommunication Engineering Program

Applications are invited from candidates who have PhD degree in relevant fields and extensive experience in teaching of graduate level and /or research at least in two of the following directly /most related areas mentioned above three posts.
