Post Title: International Youth Leadership Programme (IYLP) Officer (3 days a week part-time position) Immediate start until 30 September (with possibility of extension) Location: London, UK Salary: £17,500 pro rata (Approximate gross annual salary).

Description Students Partnership Worldwide (SPW) (), a youth-led international development agency, is in the process of dramatically increasing its operations and impact. Currently SPW has offices in Australia, India, Nepal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, UK, USA, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

As an integral arm of the international agency, SPW UK works to provide opportunities for young people in the UK to play a lead role at the forefront of international development. • Through the International Youth Leadership Programme SPW UK provides meaningful opportunities for young people to participate in international development through volunteering on SPW programmes overseas • SPW UK is the coordinating agency for Dance4Life in the UK () educating young people in schools about global issues and in particular about HIV and AIDS and inspiring them to become Agents of Change • SPW UK trains and supports young people to advocate and campaign to policy makers and social leaders on the issues affecting the lives of young people globally: SPW is one of the founding organisations of the Student Stop Aids Campaign and coordinates 20 university based societies across the UK (). Through its Advocates for Action programme SPW UK supports young people to advocate to policy makers on urgent sexual and reproductive health issues facing young people in developing countries

Duties SPW is looking for a Programme Officer to support the IYLP team. The successful candidate will work three days a week with the International Youth Leadership Coordinator and International Intern for Recruitment for five months supporting in a range of key areas:

  • Support in the coordination of the International Youth Leadership Programme which focuses on International Volunteers, Technical Assistants and Internships
  • Support in the marketing of SPW to potential volunteers and other relevant audiences
  • Support with the recruitment and selection of international volunteers and interns
  • Organise events including information and selection events, pre-departure training and debriefs for International Volunteers
  • Support International Volunteers Prior to Departure
  • Other duties as required and relevant to the role

Personal Qualities: * Excellent communication and inter-personal skills. * Self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative. * Capable of managing and developing multiple tasks and objectives, often to tight timescales. * Good team player * Excellent attention to detail.

Key skills and Qualifications: * Relevant work or voluntary experience * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Excellent administrative skills * Fluent written and spoken English * Good IT skills with competence in Word, Excel and PowerPoint * Belief in the values of SPW and ability to uphold them personally * Experience of working/volunteering in a developing country would be advantageous * Willing to work occasional weekends or evenings
