Job Description

The Sex Workers Project is looking seeks a Summer intern/volunteer to help manage our social media, communications and support development and fundraising efforts. The ideal candidate should have a passion and interest in sex workers rights, immigrants’ rights and LGBTQIA+ rights. Hybrid position located in lower Manhattan. Approximately 10-15 hours/week, unpaid starting from May 2025-end of August 2025.

Responsibilities include:

  • researching policies related to sex work and immigration
  • creating accessible infographics and content on social media
  • creating videos (e.g. short-form reels, long-form client stories)
  • updating our resource guide with local and national resources for sex workers
  • assisting callers to our Helpline by helping connect them to resources
  • forging connections within the sex worker and immigrant communities (e.g. advocacy organizations, community groups)
  • helping to plan and organize fundraisers

Qualifications & Experience

Ideally looking for someone who is:

  • proficient with design (e.g. Canva)
  • proficient with video editing (not required but preferred)
  • experienced with organizing, marketing, and/or research
  • knowledgeable about sex work and sex workers’ rights
  • Spanish language skills preferred but not required
