Job Summary

The Information Services Branch provides functional oversight of all OPCW information technology (IT) and telecommunication systems.

The Branch provides cross-divisional platforms and services such as IT infrastructure and business applications; provides reliable and secure technical infrastructure within a context of strict adherence to approved confidentiality and security guidelines and procedures; and identifies opportunities where the use of information technology can improve OPCW business in terms of efficiency and effectiveness.

Information Services Branch is in search of an intern to work in supporting projects currently being implemented. The intern will be assigned to the following projects:

  • Interviewing the Project Owners of each project
  • Creating professional document describing all aspects of the projects, starting from, but not limited to its inception until the troubleshooting guide.

The specific tasks are outlined in detail in the job description. The tasks associated with all projects will be consistent.

Main Responsibilities

1) Purpose of Internship:

  • Updating documentation about all aspects of IT Infrastructure and End User Services
  • Migrating from current ITSM tool to the new one
  • Deploying endpoint devices

b) Learning:

  • Intern will learn how to write professional documentation
  • will learn how to create and work with flowcharts
  • will learn how to graphically represent the data
  • will learn IT technical skills for deployment of an endpoint
  • will learn good customer service and interpersonal skills
  • will learn good coordination skills

2) Terms of Reference for the Internship:

The intern will be assigned to the following projects. Main task for the Intern would be to interview the Project Owners of each project and create professional document describing all aspects of the projects, starting from, but not limited to its inception until the troubleshooting guide.   • IT Service Management Tool Migration

3) Tasks:

  • Consolidating and transferring all project and service documentation from various repositories into a single document management system, such as WikiJS or DevOps Wiki Document.
  • Helping migration to OPCW’s new ITSM tool. Transferring data from the old tool and setting up the new one.
  • Assisting End User Services team in unboxing, labelling, imaging and deploying laptops.
  • Interview service owners to fill gaps in documentation related to various projects.
Qualifications and Experience Education
  • Enrolled in and have completed at least one year of a degree programme in a university (or equivalent tertiary institution) or;
  • in a graduate school programme (second university degree or higher) or;
  • Have graduated from a university or a graduate school within a year prior to the commencement of the internship and;
  • Be a citizen of an OPCW Member State and fluent in both written and spoken English.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with IT skills is desirable but not essential
  • Graphic and design skills would be an advantage
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Languages

Fluency in English is essential and a good working knowledge of one of the other official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is desirable.
