Job Title: International Development and Cooperation Analyst

Location: Remote (home-based)

Contract type: Internship agreement between Methodica/University/Student

Duration: 6 months

Compensation: Unpaid

Start date: July/September 2025

Background

Methodica Consulting is a consulting firm specialised in measuring social change in complex settings. We build tailored Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and research methodologies to support public and private entities in delivering social change in remote locations, fragile states, and developing countries.

Our complementary expertise in qualitative and quantitative methods has been successfully employed in various assignments: from OECD-DAC-based evaluations and verification exercises to more advanced outcome-focused monitoring systems and research; from descriptive and inferential statistics to country-level econometric assessments.

Our team and network include experienced professionals with a wide range of advisory and on-field experience, as well as relationships with trusted data collection partners across our countries of operation. Methodica Consulting is led by Monica Gazzola, with 12+ years of experience in large-scale, multi-country M&E projects primarily in sub-Saharan Africa, supporting major donors (e.g., UN, EU, UK, US) in a wide range of thematic areas, including stabilisation, peacekeeping, governance, countering violent extremism (CVE), migration, women empowerment and military operations.

Job description

We are looking for a motivated Analyst to assist on the monitoring and evaluation of projects, as well as on business development and proposal writing, alongside other technical consultants/ evaluation specialists.

The Analyst is not expected to have significant working experience: he/she will receive a thorough training in quantitative and qualitative methods. The training will cover the following topics (indicative):

  • Main approaches to M&E: Logical Frameworks, Outcome Harvesting, Theory of Change
  • Use of software for coding and quantitative/qualitative data analysis (e.g., Excel, SPSS, Dedoose, NVivo)
  • Report writing

Depending on the project workload and the progress in training, the Analyst will be able to undertake increasingly complex tasks, which could include:

  • Participate in calls with clients and projects
  • Prepare sections of reports and presentations
  • Data analysis, coding
  • Conduct interviews

The Analyst will also support the company’s Business Development efforts on tasks such as:

  • Donors’ procurement assessments
  • KPI identification and monitoring
  • Proposal sourcing and drafting

Requirements

The key to this job is to be willing to continuously learn. The learning curve will be initially steep and the learning process will not be linear, depending also on project work. Successful candidates will demonstrate deep interest, motivation and curiosity. We will invest significant resources to coach the Analyst to allow them to be successful on the job. For successful Analysts, this fixed-term position is the first step of career progression at Methodica.

The successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • Fluent in English (native is an asset); fluency in French is a major asset and any other language (Arabic, Spanish, Italian) is appreciated.
  • Very good reading comprehension and critical reasoning skills.
  • Very good writing skills.
  • Good command of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Capacity to prioritise work.
  • Understanding of conflict affected states/ developing countries is a major asset.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., international relations, political sciences, economics).

Please note that this opportunity is designed for students. The contract for this role is an internship agreement between Methodica, the university and the student.
