Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a project manager, the intern will:

  • Support the planning and delivery of IT projects.
  • Facilitate workshops and consultations with internal and external stakeholders to define requirements for IT solutions.
  • Contribute to portfolio management by maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Act as a liaison for internal clients, ensuring that IMTS’ efforts align with operational needs.
  • Support the Chief of Section with any other related duties, as required.

Qualifications/special skills
To qualify for the United Nations Secretariat internship programme applicants must, at the time of their submission, be enrolled in the final academic year of a first-level university degree programme (i.e. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree); be enrolled in a graduate school programme (i.e. Master’s degree or equivalent degree, or higher) or have completed an aforementioned academic degree, preferably in the area of international relations, business and/or information Management, and, if selected, must commence the internship on the date indicated in the Acceptance letter.

APPLICANTS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO HAVE PROFESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAMME.

  • Be pursuing or have recently completed a degree in Political Science, International Relations, Business Administration, Management or a related field.
  • Be interested in project-based work, management consulting, or organizational development; demonstrated experience in project management and/or project-based ways of working, especially in the context of software development, is a plus.
  • Possess strong analytical and communication skills to turn complex challenges into actionable solutions.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for reporting and presentations, and adaptable to new tools.
  • Thrive in a multicultural, mission-driven environment with a collaborative mindset.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in English is required, working knowledge of the other is an asset.
