WORK CONTEXT

CESVI is a secular, independent humanitarian organization founded in Bergamo in 1985. It operates in over 20 countries worldwide, supporting the most vulnerable populations in achieving their aspirations and achieving sustainable development while respecting human rights. Based on the ideals of social justice, CESVI pursues the well-being of populations living in poverty or affected by war, natural disasters, and environmental disasters.

Cesvi offers an internship opportunity within the Programme Support Unit, working alongside the Area Administrative Coordinators. This training and on-the-job training will focus on finance and administration of development and emergency projects.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The internship will start in the first week of September.

Main workplace: Bergamo

The intern reports to the Head of Programmes Support and works closely with the Area Administrative Coordinators.

The selected candidate will be trained and involved in the following activities:

  • Support in managing the head office accounting program dedicated to foreign accounting
  • Support in the preparation of periodic reports: accounting, forecasting, and review of assigned projects (Prime Entry, BFU, and sharing costs of expatriate personnel)
  • Support in preparing and drafting project financial reporting according to the templates and requests of institutional and private donors
  • Support in preparing project audits (i.e. finding supporting documents)

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduating in Political Science, International Relations, Economics or other subject in line with the sector
  • Interest in a training experience in finance/administration in the non-profit sector
  • Familiarity with numbers
  • Passion for reading project budgets
  • Fluent knowledge of the English language, both written and spoken
  • Excellent knowledge of the use of programs, especially Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility
  • Good predisposition for interpersonal relationships

  • Sensitivity and interest in development cooperation issues

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Specialization courses/Masters in the field of International Cooperation and/or Non-Profit in Italy
  • Study or internship experience in disciplines related to the position sought
  • Previous experience abroad and experience in the social field in Italy and/or abroad
  • Knowledge of a second foreign language (preferably French and/or Spanish and/or Arabic)
