Job Description
The postition is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of 6 months. Employment location will be Kenema, Sierra Leone (SL).
As Junior Expert you will work closely with the Head of Project, the Regional Liaison Officer and the project’s field team in planning, undertaking and documenting a Land Tenure Assessment in the Project’s four Investment Target Areas. In parallel, you will initiate a Participatory Land Use Planning Process in selected villages informing Project Management about existing land use-issues and supporting the affected communities in finding solutions to such issues. You will also aid project implementation by analyzing and feeding important project information into the M&E System and by visualizing critical data in maps.
Your responsibilities
- Supporting the Project’s Land Tenure Assessment
- Supporting the Project’s Participatory Land Use Planning-Exercise
- Supporting the Project with M&E/Mapping- and Drafting Tasks
- Collating, annotating and delivering contributions for the regional/country concepts and concept papers
- Preparing the relevant planning document for new Welthungerhilfe projects in consultation with the Country Director and local employees and partners
- Preparing cofinancing and sponsor applications in coordination with the respective superior
- Monitoring schedules and completion regarding narrative reporting
- Providing comments on reports and forwarding them to the relevant offices
- Assisting national staff in relation to project-specific, technical issues
- Conducting preliminary work for the preparation and monthly updating of the operational plan
- Participating in the preparation of regular reports on the implementation status of the project and local developments
- Participating in coordination committees
- Performing preparatory work for visits and visitor support
- Reporting and related documentation for the media in consultation with the superior
Your profile
- A relevant university / polytechnic degree in Geography, Social Sciences or similar
- Job-related professional experience (e.g. internships outside of Europe)
- Good intercultural cooperation and teamworking skills
- A very good command of written and spoken English
