Position Summary:
Nickol Global Solutions (NGS), on behalf of USAID’s Democracy, Human Rights and Governance (DRG) Center in the Development, Democracy, and Innovation (DDI) Bureau is seeking a short-term Justice, Rights, and Security (JRS) Consultant to support the DRG Center within the Development, Democracy, and Innovation (DDI) Bureau at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID/DDI/DRG) under the DRG institutional support contract. The JRS team advances Agency and DRG Center objectives by providing technical leadership and support on human rights, rule of law, and security sector reform to USAID field Missions and Washington Operating Units (OUs), other USG entities, and the broader DRG community.
As a result of increased competition and diverse perspectives, it is expected that this will result in achieving better locally led solutions and more sustainable outcomes through increased creativity and innovation.
The JRS Consultant will provide support to Missions and OUs on key programmatic processes for the new JRS APS and other implementing mechanisms, including but not limited to the Human Rights Grants Program (HRGP) and JRS-Rapid Response (RR) (collectively, JRS Implementing Mechanisms). Tasks will include finalization of Mission/Bureau outreach plans, development of webinar or fast facts documentation about the APS, facilitation of co-creation, building of procurement packages, and technical evaluation assistance to Missions. The JRS Consultant will provide support directly via consultation (e.g., responding to JRS Team requirements and Mission/OU requests for assistance with the development of APS addenda and co-creation and technical evaluation of concepts and applications).
The JRS Consultant will report to the DDI/DRG JRS deputy team lead or designee. He or she will regularly work with JRS team members, coordinate with other teams in the Center on shared priorities, and engage and support USAID Mission personnel when on TDY and with individuals from other OUs. The JRS Consultant and his/her/their supervisor will jointly develop a work plan that outlines specific priorities, timelines, and deliverables, which the consultant will independently plan, design, and work to achieve.
