Job Description

Expected duration: 42 months

Expected start: January 2020

Project description:

Provide technical support to the EU-café grant project lead and co-applicants to strengthen their planning and coffee sector management capacities required for the successful implementation of coffee development, research, value chain development, and market promotion and regulation.

Requirements:

Qualifications and skills

  • At least a first degree from an accredited university; preferably MSc or equivalent in coffee agronomy (best agronomic practices), extension systems (best extension practices), Geography, or Environmental Sciences
  • In-depth understanding of EU/EDF procedures that qualifies to provide support and capacity building on operational and financial management or EU Action Grants including procurement procedures
  • Fluent in English.

General professional experience

  • A minimum of 8 years hands-on experience in supporting coffee agronomy, extension and/or value chain development undertaking, of which 4 years are in coffee-growing countries
  • Proven experience in supporting the establishment of grassroots level agribusiness organizational arrangements to enhance coffee productivity, quality and marketing
  • Proven understanding of the GI protocol development for agricultural products
  • Proven experience in developing and/or establishing workable agricultural extension systems
  • Proven experience in assisting EU financed Action Grants under the EDF financial instrument.

Specific professional experience

  • Work experience in best agronomic and extension communication practices and value chain development including marketing
  • Experience in farm-level agribusiness collective organizational arrangements
  • Experience in GI protocol development for agricultural products
  • In-depth understanding of EU/EDF procedures to support and building capacities of beneficiaries in operational and financial management or EU Action grants including procurement procedures.
