EngenderHealth works to improve the health and well-being of people in the poorest communities of the world. We do this by sharing our expertise in sexual and reproductive health and transforming the quality of health care. We promote gender equity, advocate for sound practices and policies, and inspire people to assert their rights to better, healthier lives. Working in partnership with local organizations, we adapt our work in response to local needs.
Background:
There is encouraging momentum underway around the world to accelerate progress toward improving maternal health, one of the most neglected challenges in global public health. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has entrusted a large grant over three years to EngenderHealth to convene the Maternal Health Task Force. This is a new initiative that will build on existing momentum by invigorating and catalyzing collective efforts to save women’s lives. Working closely with current and new stakeholders in maternal health and related fields, the Task Force will be charged with making the grant pay off for women, families and communities around the world.
The MHTF has a mandate to share knowledge and information within and beyond the maternal health community. Thus, it has developed a sophisticated Knowledge Management System designed to centralize maternal health information on an easily accessible and comprehensive online platform to serve the global maternal health community.
Job Summary:
The Knowledge Management (KM) unit of the Maternal Health Task Force (MHTF) requires a highly motivated KM Assistant to help coordinate and support the MHTF KM strategy and tactics. The MHTF website is one of the most important channels through which MHTF disseminates and shares information about the field and about its own activities.
The KM Assistant will work closely with the KM team to ensure that new and existing site functionalities are being optimally used and maintained. The KM Assistant will work on many aspects of the KM system. Primary tasks will include: coordination, planning, and administrative support of periodic web-based meetings with partners (webinars); assisting with the email distribution of MHTF newsletters and other communications; maintaining web-based databases; editing and revising website page layouts; tagging of maternal health documents for online uploads; monitoring and managing edits for translated versions of the MHTF site; assisting with audience surveys; organizing and archiving of MHTF documents and purchase orders. This position provides a unique opportunity for those who are interested in how technology can help advance MDG5 goals.
