Summary:

Knowledge Management (KM) is a business process formalizing the management and use of Creative’s intellectual assets. In step with knowledge trends, Creative is shifting from physical capital to intellectual capital, spearheading the Knowledge Management Cycle - generating, capturing, sharing, adopting and diffusing its intellectual knowledge - to address the world’s most pressing problems. Within Creative, the Knowledge Management team champions the company’s world-wide Knowledge Management Cycle operations, so that Creative’s intellectual knowledge is shared and adopted inside with the Executive Team, Senior Practice Area Directors, and Project and Business Development staff, then, shared, adopted, and diffused outside by its Communications, External Relations and Marketing Teams with clients, partners, and stakeholders.

Position Summary:

The Knowledge Management Associate supports the Knowledge Management Director in the development, implementation, and evaluation of Creative’s Global Knowledge Management Plan. The KM Department supports the intellectual knowledge of Creative’s project countries world-wide, for broader company use and, ultimately, development community application.

Expected Outcomes:

As an integral member of the Knowledge Management team, the KM Associate will support the Director and Creative’s KM initiatives, delivering the following outcomes:

  • Socialization and institutionalization of Knowledge Management initiatives and practices throughout Creative;
  • Knowledge Management Products captured and shared at the Project Level;
  • The Knowledge Portal including the project Knowledge Management Plans reflect Creative’s intellectual assets accessible for Creative’s staff at Headquarters and the Field;
  • Systematized Knowledge Products within Creative’s Project and KM Cycles;
  • Comprehensive and Time Relevant KM Plans for each of Creative’s project countries.
  • Coordinated, Curated and Uploaded KM Products such as Technical Notes, KM Workplans;
  • High Quality learning activities, internal/external KM events, trainings, after action reviews, and other activities within the KM portfolio;
  • Robust Intelligence Gathering of Creative’s Intellectual Assets to augment the company’s business pursuits.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide KM support to the Executive Team, Divisions, Practice Areas, and Program staff in the headquarters and field offices by following Creative’s and the Client’s procedures and processes;
    • Identify Knowledge Products generated from projects, working with the project teams to capture, upload, and share/apply them for marketing, business, and technical advancement.
    • Support implementation of the Project KM Plan - distilling the Knowledge Products and working with the project teams to extract them; upload, and share/apply the products.
    • Follow-up quarterly project briefings to solicit Knowledge Products including Technical Notes, Handbooks, curricula, guides, etc.
    • Oversee the preparation and delivery of high-quality Technical Notes and briefs routinely developed and referenced for project design, business development and marketing.
    • Monitor project KM performance, including KM Workplan, Technical Notes, retrieval of success stories (having an Intervention focus), and KM deliverables
  • Share experiences across communities of practice, business units, and networks on innovative approaches in knowledge sharing, adopting and diffusing, including preparation of case studies;
  • Contribute to high quality KM Products through reviewing, editing, and writing Technical Notes, KM sections of Proposals, briefs, etc.;
  • Disseminate information about Creative’s Knowledge Management Cycle to headquarter and field staff concerning Creative’s global portfolio.
  • Promote knowledge generation, capture, and sharing through the company’s operational business processes and systems by, among others, strengthening links between knowledge sharing and the information systems, and improving integration among information systems in the company, to facilitate seamless exchange of information across systems;
  • Coordinate activities related to Knowledge Sharing and Adoption such as the creation of the weekly KM Newsletter, and coordination of learning activities, technical presentations and forums;
  • Conduct trainings and seminars for Creative Staff on the Knowledge Management Cycle including their role and expected deliverables;
  • Mentor Creative staff from headquarters and field offices on the creation of Knowledge Products;
  • Conduct KM on-boarding for new staff at Creative; and
  • Research, collect and organize data and information to create requested reports on Creative’s historical experience from the Executive Team, and Project Units.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

This position requires a combination of technical and operational capabilities:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, international development, or other relevant related field;

Work Experience

  • Minimum four to five (4-5) years’ work experience in a knowledge management - related field;
  • Prior experience in an international setting, preferably with international development;
  • Demonstrated organizational and administrative skills;
  • Experience and comfort developing and delivering trainings with diverse participants;
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented setting while also taking initiative to complete assigned tasks with high quality and within a tight timeframe;
  • Team work, dealing with staff from all levels of the company – the Executive Team, Technical Experts, Project Management, and Field Staff;
  • Ability to adapt to diverse and fast paced environment and work with people from different backgrounds;
  • Fluency in English; and
  • Strong computer skills (advanced level in Excel).

KM-Related Experience

  • Minimum one (1) year of Knowledge Management experience;
  • Ability to develop and monitor KM initiatives, relevant KM analytics, and global trends for technical learning;
  • Experience with data and trend analyses and interpretation with a KM lens;
  • Experience collecting and converting data and information into knowledge;
  • Capability to effectively communicate knowledge through various channels including data visualization and reports, learning activities, and others;
  • Beginning analytic and problem-solving skills; and
  • Excellent communications and coordination skills and cultural sensibility, with ability to work with international project teams at headquarters and the field.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in an international development-related field – highly desirable;
  • Proficiency in Spanish, Arabic or French;
  • Prior experience working and/or living outside of the U.S; and
  • Understanding of development issues, trends and knowledge needs/applications.
