Established in 1964, the African Development Bank is the premier pan-African development institution fostering economic growth and social progress in Africa. The Bank’s primary goal is to reduce poverty and improve living standards by mobilising resources in and outside Africa and providing financial and technical assistance for development projects and programs in Africa. Principal transport engineer, transport division, infrastructure department – (ref VN ADB/06/066) Identify suitable projects for bank group financing in the transport sector, manage the formulation, preparation, appraisal, supervision and evaluation of projects including lending, sectoral work and technical assistance. Lead a multidisciplinary team of experts and serve as liaison with government officials.
Principal evaluation officer (infrastructure economist), operations evaluation department – (ref VN ADB/06/69) Undertake evaluation field missions to the bank’s regional member countries to conduct assessments and prepare appraisal reports, measure the impact of development programmes and deliver recommendations to improve future Bank operations.
Principal evaluation officer (agricultural economist), operations evaluation department – (ref VN ADB/06/070) Undertake evaluation field missions to the bank’s regional member countries to conduct assessments and prepare appraisal reports. Assess the performance, relevance, quality, institutional impact and sustainability of the Bank’s operation. Draw conclusions and formulate recommendations for future activities.
Senior financial management analyst, agriculture and agro industry department – (ref VN ADB/06/074) Undertake periodic review of agriculture and agro industry projects from project planning to mid-term reviews and country strategy. Assess and advise management on critical issues pertaining to audit, project accounts and financial management. Participate in the preparation of the Bank’s policies and financial management procedures.
Chief board operations officer, board proceedings and documents division, secretary general’s office – (ref VN ADB/06/075) Review and follow up on policy issues that are submitted to the board and its committees as well as undertake research on relevant thematic issues. Support the drafting of the Board Committees Strategic Work programmes and track the decisions of the Board to ensure implementation.
Chief conference management officer, general secretariat – (ref VN ADB/06/076) Lead the preparation and planning of the Bank group annual meetings, conferences and associated events, organize all the meetings inside and outside the institution as well as act as the custodian of the recorded proceedings of the statutory organs of the Bank.
Principal hydrologist/water engineer, agriculture and agro industry department – (ref VN ADB/06/077) Plan, undertake and supervise project cycle activities, and assist regional member countries in identifying relevant and appropriate development projects in irrigation and rainwater harvesting. Support knowledge management and dissemination activities and represent the Bank at seminars and conferences.
Principal agro-industry expert (2 positions), agriculture and agro-industry department – (ref VN ADB/06/080) Conduct analyses of key agro-industrial issues facing Africa. Contribute to efforts to formulate the bank’s strategy relating to the major aspects of agro-industrial development of the continent. Represent the Bank at international meetings. Provide coordination to field operations including training for local officials.
Portfolio data analyst (2 positions), agriculture and agro industry department and human development department – (ref VN ADB/06/081) Assist project managers in all aspects relating to the management of the project portfolio, including collecting and processing structured data on the portfolio, preparing the administrative budget and monitoring its implementation.
Chief transport engineer, transport division, infrastructure department – (ref VN ADB/06/082) and Chief power engineer, energy and ict division, infrastructure department – (ref VN ADB/06/083) Contribute to formulating policies concerning projects, programmes and initiatives in the transport and energy sectors. Draw up the annual programme of activities for management of the transport and energy sectors project portfolio. Lay down the Bank’s Transport and Energy Sector Operating Strategy and identify development projects and programmes eligible for financing.
Principal telecommunications engineer, energy and ICT division, infrastructure department – (ref VN ADB/06/084) Formulate proposals for review of the policies and rules in relation to the bank’s priorities and operating strategies for borrower member countries and draw up the annual programme of activities for management of the project portfolio.
Chief health economist, human development department – (ref VN ADB/06/085) Conduct missions to identify, prepare, appraise and launch health projects for bank-financing; conduct technical supervision of on-going health projects; and coordinate loan administration activities related to health projects.
Principal architect (2 positions), human development department – (ref VN ADB/06/086) Participate in the identification, preparation and appraisal of human development projects; conduct technical supervision of on-going human development projects; and play a key role in coordinating loan administration activities related to social development projects.
Senior investigator, anti-corruption and fraud division, office of the auditor general – (ref VN ADB/06/087) Undertake the fieldwork, control evidence and data collection, reviewing documents and information gathered in the course of an investigation to ensure that the investigation objectives are achieved. prepare investigation reports presenting facts, conclusions and recommendations to support management decisions regarding any sanctions or corrective action.
Senior legal counsel, operations affairs division, general counsel and legal services department – (ref Vn ADB/05/0726) Perform legal due diligence on financial transactions and ensure that the bank’s terms are suitable and competitive. draft policy documents on operational and private sector matters.
Senior legal counsel, financial and administrative affairs division, general counsel and legal services department – (ref VN ADB/05/079). Principal legal counsel, financial and administrative affairs division, general counsel and legal services department (3 positions) – (ref VN ADB/05/080) Advise on constitutional and corporate legal issues arising from the interpretation and application of the bank’s charter including matters pertaining to privileges and immunities. Draft legal documents concerning membership and participation in the bank and the African development fund and creation of special funds. Advise on, draft, vet and revise legal documentation relating to organization, structure and administration of the bank group and the relations of the bank group with international organizations and with member and non-member states.
Senior legal counsel, administrative tribunal – (ref VN ADB/05/083) Assist with management of administrative tribunal, including the processing of cases filed by staff members against the bank . Conduct research on issues of law, facts and precedents of other administrative tribunals.
